A resting Tamabit earns $BITS, and long enough rests open something sealed. It never leaves your wallet, and you can wake it whenever you like.
Every pet earns the same flat rate. The one exception is a combined pet, shown here at level 2: combining burns supply, so it rests faster. $BITS is not deployed yet, so the balances above are invented. Demo speed only, and the real rate, the real multiplier and what sits behind the milestones are not decided.

We do not take custody of your Tamabit. Everything below follows from that one decision.
your pet never leaves your wallet
Resting is not a deposit. There is no escrow, no vault, and nothing to approve. We would store one small record, which pet is resting and since when, and the pet itself never moves.
resting costs nothing, not even gas
You sign a message to rest and another to wake. A signature proves you asked for it and nothing more: it cannot move a pet, and there is no approval to revoke because there was never one to give.
rest and wake whenever you like
No lock-up, no cooldown, no minimum, no penalty for waking early. Wake it and rest it again a second later if you want.
selling ends the rest
The clock stops at the moment the pet changes hands, and the new owner starts their own. Nothing is clawed back and nothing is taken. This is the honest cost of never holding your pet.
every pet earns the same
A flat rate per pet. A mythic rests no faster than a common, because a rare pet already won at reveal and should not also earn more forever. Rarity is luck, and luck gets paid once.
combining is the one thing that earns more
A combined pet rests at a better rate. Combining burns pets, so the supply only falls, and the holders shrinking it are the ones who should earn faster. When a pet is burned in a merge its $BITS is banked first, so combining never costs you what you already rested for.
what rest opens
Rest earns $BITS. Longer rests reach milestones, and every milestone holds something sealed. What sits behind them is not published, for the same reason the pets hatch from an egg: if nobody can see which one is worth farming, nobody farms it.
Until the token exists, what you earn is counted in our own records. When it is deployed, those balances are published and frozen at a stated block first, so going on chain never asks you to trust a number you could not check.

honestly, what is not decided
The mechanism above is settled. These are not, and we would rather say so than pretend: how fast $BITS accrues, how much more a combined pet earns, which rest lengths reach a milestone, and what funds the rewards. None of it is promised until it is written.
